As my train arrived to Bogor one day, my friend told me that I slept all the way from Jakarta to Bogor and snored like hell. He said sometimes it’s like I stopped breathing and then made a loud noise as I was gasping back my breath for air.
Well, the truth is, this is not the first time I ever heard someone told me this. But my friend continued to tell me that if I consulted a physician on my condition (which I always plan and never do), probably the first action that physician will ask me is, to lose some weight.
Yes, I thought, he’s right; and also that reminded me that I’ve been eating like a pig for the last two months or so. No wonder I felt so heavy.
As I stepped down the train to the station platform, I decided to begin my another attempt of losing weight. I’ve done it several time with no success, always ends up in a yo-yo situation . So, on my way home from the station, I stopped by a drug store to buy a bathroom scale and another stop at the supermarket to buy a “losing weight” milk which I have to drink every morning and evening, replacing breakfast and dinner. Poor me.
Upon my arrival home, I took out the bathroom scale, put it down, stepped on it and watched anxiously as the disk wheezing around quickly to indicate that I weighed 106 kgs (212 lbs). For a 163 cms, that’s too much weight to put on my fragile bones. Plus, the combination of those numbers in a formula gave me a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 39.89: 2nd degree obesity. Only 0.11 point away from “morbidly obese” status, which means I can, without warning, drop dead at any given time in any given place. Well, so does every living creatures on the surface of this old earth, but when you hit BMI 40, your chance is as fat as you are.
The small BMI calculator software installed in my small cellphone also indicated that my ideal weight (based on my height, I imagined) is between 49.15 to 66.15 kgs (98.3 to 132.3 lbs), that’s half way down from where I am now.
I don’t have any idea how to dive that deep other than cutting down carbohydrate intake as minimum as I can.
Anybody got an idea? (No spamming, please)
